James Thiele brings over 20 years of experience and advanced planning in the insurance industry to Gilbert-Krupin. His main focus when not working directly with clients is supporting the Gilbert-Krupin professionals in helping high net-worth families, closely-held businesses, business owners, and corporations implement insurance plans to meet their estate, retirement, and business objectives. His areas of expertise include split dollar design and implementation, the integration of insurance with estate planning techniques, and non-qualified benefit design, planning, and administration. He brings an analytical approach that provides objective and sound advice to clients, advisors, and insurance professionals in the design and presentation of insurance and financial planning strategies.

James started his career as a manager at a large insurance home office and contributed several innovative approaches to improve departmental efficiency. Prior to joining Gilbert-Krupin, James held various positions as vice-president and case design specialist at a highly successful insurance brokerage firm that provided sophisticated financial planning to high net worth clients.

James earned his Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) and Financial Consultant (ChFC) from the American College, is a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) from the College of Financial Planning, and is an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP) from the National Association of Estate Planners.  Additionally, James has been a member of the Financial Planning Association and the Society of Financial Service Professionals for over 14 years.

James holds a B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara. In his spare time, he enjoys reading, riding Harleys, and mountain climbing. James lives in Simi Valley with his son and wife of 20 years.
