As a former tax and estate planning attorney, Leslie brings a strong technical understanding of the tax issues and planning concerns underlying life insurance and wealth transfer planning to Gilbert-Krupin.  Accordingly, Leslie’s strategy focuses on the creative integration of insurance products into the estate plans of high net worth individuals.  Leslie’s legal background enables her to work with financial planners, CPA’s and estate planning attorneys to craft unique income and transfer tax-efficient solutions that provide clients with the liquidity and flexibility necessary in today’s changing economic and legislative environment.

Before joining Gilbert-Krupin, Leslie was an attorney at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP, where she was a member of the Private Clients and Charitable Organizations group.  Her practice focused on complex estate planning, estate administration and income and transfer tax planning for individuals, closely held businesses and charitable organizations.  On a daily basis, Leslie worked on a team that provided ongoing management of “rolling GRAT” programs, family partnerships and gift-giving plans for high net worth individuals.  Some notable projects included an extensive reorganization of the carry side of a large international real estate investment and management firm, and the development of a tax-efficient trust structure for the purchase of U.S. real estate by a group of Middle Eastern investors

Leslie holds a B.A. in English from Washington and Lee University, where she was a four-year member of the Varsity Lacrosse Team.  She received All-Conference, All-South and Academic All-American honors, and holds the school record for single-season and career assists.

Leslie also has a J.D. from Boston College Law School, where she graduated summa cum laude and a member of the Order of the Coif.  During her second and third years of law school, Leslie was a contributing staff member and editor of the Boston College Law Review.

In December 2009, Leslie received an LL.M. in taxation from New York University School of Law.

Leslie lives in Los Angeles with her husband, Nick.  She is an avid reader of contemporary and historical fiction, and also enjoys cooking, running and tennis in her free time.
